The salaries of the Legislative Council
These are the nonpartisan people who keep everything running at AZleg
The Arizona Legislative Council is filled with some of the most helpful people in Arizona government in terms of reporting and also legislative business.
Led by the always reliable and helpful Mike Braun, the Legislative Council keeps everything running at the Capitol and is a helpful resource for all reporters looking for what may or may not be constitutional in a bill or just for a quick explanation or interpretation of legislation.
So who do they have on staff and are they earning as much as they should?

In addition to receiving the salaries, Braun sent me this:
In lieu of annual salary information for Ken Behringer  and myself, we listed hourly rates. Neither Ken nor I are compensated on a year-round, fulltime basis. Rather, we are paid for the hours we work, subject to a maximum payment of 40 hours per week of compensated work. Ken generally works 5-10 hours per week. In calendar year 2022, my total compensation was $157,824. Neither Ken nor I accrue vacation/holiday/sick/comp time/etc. pay, so only the hours worked are compensated [subject to the hard cap of 40 hours per week regardless of additional hours worked.]
The Pages generally work 2 or 3 days each week [while attending college] so we listed their hourly rate as more representative of compensation than an annual salary.
The Museum staff 7/1/22 salaries reflect their compensation as employees of the Secretary of State. The Museum staff became part of the Legislative Council staff in September of 2022. At that time, their salaries had already increased by 10% as part of the general state employee increase from the last budget bill, and then we made additional revisions to better track market rates in an effort to retain those employees for the long haul.
What other government staff would you like to see salaries for? Let me know.
