AZGOP Chair is paid by AZ Senate GOP
Gina Swoboda renewed her consulting contract with the Arizona Senate GOP.
If you've been keeping up with the recent upheaval within the Arizona Republican Party, including the resignation of former chair Jeff DeWit and the subsequent election of Gina Swoboda, I won't delve into those details here.
For those who may not be up to speed, I recommend reading these stories from the Arizona Agenda.
and this:
Long-time subscribers of Fourth Estate 48 may recall seeing Swoboda's name mentioned previously. This is due to the revelation of her consulting contract with the Arizona Senate GOP, where she receives $15,000 per month to assist the elections committee overseen by Wendy Rogers. This contract, renewed for another year, stipulates the same payment plan, with an additional $7,500 paid for each month of November and December 2023.
The terms of the agreement outline Swoboda's role under the Senate President's direction and prohibit her from undertaking any conflicting work related to Arizona Elections. However, the landscape has shifted since last year, as Swoboda now holds the position of State Republican Party chair, backed by Donald Trump. This raises questions about potential access to voter files and the extent of her involvement in partisan activities.
Take a look:
While last year's interpretation by the Senate suggested that Swoboda's previous role as executive director of a nonprofit focused on election integrity did not breach the terms of her contract, the implications of her current leadership in a political party remain uncertain.
It's worth noting that the party chair position doesn't come with a salary, making Swoboda's $75,000 earnings over six months a noteworthy aspect, funded by taxpayers.
Must be nice.
Seems to me that she has a conflict of interest.
Wow! Swoboda is a consultant to one of the wildest committees in the Legislature.
